Will successful completion of the SMART course get me on the spinal manipulation roster?

YES! The Physiotherapy Alberta College & Association no longer uses the term "spinal manipulation roster". They currently refer to it as "authorization to perform spinal manipulation" and we've been asked to use this terminology.

I am a physiotherapist who practices outside of Alberta. Can I take the SMART courses?

Will successful completion of the SMART course get me on the spinal manipulation roster?

YES! All physiotherapists are welcome to take the SMART courses. Registration with your provincial regulatory body is required. Please note that provinces have different requirements to attain authorization for spinal manipulation and our course is designed to meet the Physiotherapy Alberta College & Association requirements. We are currently working to meet other provincial requirements.

YES! Whether your are working on your levels or have completed another spinal manipualtion course, the SMART courses are a great refresher for those looking to learn more and gain confidence in their abilities. The advanced and extremities courses are designed for physiotherapists who are already authorized for spinal manipulation.

Can I sign up for the SMART courses if I'm a new physiotherapy graduate?

I am already authorized for Spinal Manipulation. Can I take the SMART courses?

YES! All physiotherapists are welcome, given that they are an unrestricted member of their provincial professional association.

Do I need to attend all three weekends of the SMART course?

Can I sign up for the SMART courses if I'm a new physiotherapy graduate?

I went to school outside of Alberta. Can I still take the SMART courses?

YES! The SMART course is designed to teach a number of manipulations over three weekends. Missing one weekend disqualifies you from writing the exam to pass the course.

YES! All physiotherapists that are unrestricted members of their provincial professional regulatory body are welcome to attend the SMART courses.

Will I be manipulated as part of the SMART course training?

I want to attend a SMART course, but cannot be manipulated. Can I still attend?

YES! One of the great things about the SMART courses is that each participant will have ample opportunity to practice manipulating their classmates.

I want to attend a SMART course, but cannot be manipulated. Can I still attend?

YES! We may have volunteers who are happy to fill in and be manipulated in your place or we will organize the practical portion of the class to accommodate your needs. You will still get to practice all the manipulations on your classmates. Please contact us after signing up so we have time to make arrangements.

How do I get more practice once I've compelted the SMART course?

All previous SMART course graduates are invited to join upcoming courses to practice their new skills, gain confidence and get to know like minded therapists.

YES! With the ever changing Covid landscape we understand the need to limit exposure to other therapists during the training process. We are happy to work with clinic owners that are wanting to train multiple therapists. Whether you come to our clinic in Calgary or we travel to yours, reach out and we can make arrangements.
